Verify a certificate

Enter the certificate number exactly as it appears on the certificate. You will get a clear answer — verified, or not found — and never a partial or ambiguous result.

Certificate number

Letters, numbers and dashes only. Example: BAN-SW-000123. The box accepts capitals and ignores spaces.

Checking a certificate does not identify you and is not recorded against your visit.

Want to see every outcome?

The verification result page shows all eight states exactly as they will appear, including the valid and not-found results.

CR-019 Content required

Certificate verification is a frontend interface at this phase. No lookup, no certificate logic and no participant data are implemented, and no verification history is stored.

How to read the number

A Battery Academy Naija certificate number carries the zone it was issued in:

Certificate number format by zone
PartMeaning Example
BANThe Academy's codeBAN
ZoneSW, SE, SS, NC, NE or NWSW
NumberThe certificate's own number 000123
Full numberWhat you type in the box BAN-SW-000123

The eight outcomes

Every check returns one of these. Nothing else is possible, so a result is never ambiguous and never depends on the wording of a message from a person.

Certificate verification states
ResultWhat it means
ValidThe certificate is genuine and current.
RevokedIt was issued and has since been withdrawn.
SupersededIt has been replaced by a later certificate.
SuspendedIt is under review and temporarily not in force.
UnknownNo certificate matches that number.
MalformedThe number is not in the format the Academy issues.
Temporarily unavailableThe check could not run. Try again shortly.
Orientation recordAn orientation completion record — not a certificate.

What a certificate does and does not mean

This certificate records the tasks assessed in a Battery Academy Naija project course. It is not a national qualification or licence and does not authorise hazardous work without employer authorisation.

What the check shows

A result shows the holder's name and Programme ID only where the Academy has authorised publication, together with the course, award, issue date and the certificate number. No phone number, address, date of birth or identity document is ever displayed. If you are the holder and you would rather your name did not appear, contact the Academy.

CR-014 Content required

Whether to display the holder name publicly on a verification result is still to be decided by the Academy. The interface is built to show the name when authorised and to omit it cleanly when not — the decision does not require a redesign.

QR codes

Certificates carry a QR code that opens this page with the number already filled in. Scanning it is optional: the number printed on the certificate always works on its own.

CR-020 Content required

QR generation belongs to the certificate plugin in the PHP phase. The layout reserves the space so results do not shift when it is added.

If your certificate does not verify

  1. Check the number

Look for a mistyped letter or digit. The number reads BAN, then the zone, then the certificate number.

  2. Check the zone

The zone in the number must match the zone where you trained.

  3. Contact the Academy

If it still fails, send a photograph of the certificate through the published channels and ask for it to be checked.
